If you happen to visit the splendid Palazzo Pubblico, look carefully for the fresco titled “Allegory of Good and Bad Government,” painted by the great Ambrogio Lorenzetti many years ago, between 1338 and 1339. <\/p>\n

Right there, among the scenes depicting rural life of that era, you’ll notice a dark-coated pig with its typical white “cinta” (belt) encircling its chest. It’s tangible proof, a snapshot from the past, showing that our Cinta was already a familiar presence, an integral part of life and the landscape of that time. <\/p>\n

In those years, there was a tendency to favor breeds that grew faster and seemed more “productive.” But thanks to the unwavering passion and tenacity of some breeders \u2013 true guardians of a treasure that was about to vanish \u2013 and to intelligent and far-sighted recovery projects, the Cinta Senese was saved. And with it, we preserved an immense heritage of unique genes, rural culture, and authentic flavors, an invaluable asset for our Tuscany<\/b> and for all the Italian excellence<\/b> that we, as Salumificio Renieri, love and strive to uphold every day. <\/p>\n
